NAVY AC BLOWS DOWN WINDY CITY 9-1

CORONADO, Calif. – Leigh Auth and Denise Hager both netted hat-tricks to lead Navy AC to a 9-1 victory over Illinois-Windy City in the girls’ 18-and-under bracket at the 2010 National State Challenge.

Navy never trailed in the game and jumped out a 4-0 lead in the first period as Mackenzie Edwards found the back of the cage at 5:36 before Hager hammered home three consecutive goals at 3:16, 2:35 and 1:55 in the first period.

Following a goal by Windy City’s Maggie Carey with 5:40 left in the second period, Navy built the margin out to five goals with back-to-back strikes by Lily Doerfler and Jordan Cox at the 2:30 and 46 second marks to set the score at 6-1 through a half of play.

Auth finished out the game for Navy scoring at 5:27 and 2:55 of the third period before notching a man-up goal with 17 seconds remaining in the fourth period for the 9-1 final.
