CORONADO, CALIF. -- Sam Butler scored five times as Navy AC raced out to a 13-1 halftime lead in downing Illinois-North Beach 16-2 in the Boys' 18-and-under bracket of the 2010 American Water Polo National State Challenge. Leading 4-1 after a period of play, Navy poured on the offense in the second period behind a hat-trick by Butler. Following a pair of markers by Eric Schwamb and a solo score off the hand of Tucker Creevy, Butler began his quarter trifecta by whipping in a shot at the 3:50 mark to make it 8-1. After another score by Schwamb to complete his own hat-trick in the period, Butler zipped in another score at 10-1 to push the margin to 10-1. Fred Sutter tacked on a score at 1:42 to make it 11-1 before Butler completed his hat-trick at 1:09 for a 12-1 margin. Eoghan Foley finished off the period's scoring with a blast from the wing with 19 ticks left on the clock for the 13-1 halftime advantage. North Beach was unable to chip away at the margin the rest of the way as Navy rolled to the 14-goal victory.
