GREATER SAN DIEGO STOPS PITTSBURGH 10-5

CORONADO, Calif. – Bryan Bigornia tallied a tournament high seven goals, including four in the first period, as Greater San Diego handled the Pittsburgh Tigers 10-5 in the boys' 18-and-under division at the 2010 National State Challenge hosted by American Water Polo.

The key to the game was Bigornia's early performance as he scored natural goals at 5:18 and 2:46, while chipping in a man-up tally at 3:34, to staket his squad to an early 4-0 advantage.

Leading 6-3 nearly midway through the second period, he struck again at the 3:39 mark to hand San Diego a 7-3 halftime lead.

Pittsburgh sliced the margin to 7-4 in the dawning moments of the second half when Dom Caputo beat the goalie at the 5:30 mark, but Colin Stanley responded with 49 seconds left in the third period for San Diego.

Birgonia came up big in the fourth period striking at 4:59 and 2:08 to make the lead 10-4 before Gabe Gaspar finished out the offensive barage with Pittsburgh's fifth goal and the 10-5 final.
