GREATER SAN DIEGO HOLDS OFF GREATER PHILADELPHIA 11-9 TO CAPTURE THIRD PLACE IN BOYS' NATIONAL STATE CHALLENGE BRACKET

CORONADO, Calif. – Bryan Bigornia and Hector Sanchez both scored five goals to power Greater San Diego to an 11-9 victory over Greater Philadelphia in the boys' 18-and-under division third place game at the 2010 National State Challenge at Coronado High School's Brian Bent Memorial Aquatics Complex.

Greater San Diego never trailed in the game as the squad opened up a 3-0 lead midway through the first period and carried a 7-5 advantage into halftime.

The key to the game was a 4-0 scoring run by San Diego which spanned the third period and the first two minutes of the fourth period to make the lead 11-5 with 4:17 left in regulation.

For Greater Philadelphia, Tim Greer led the way with four goals, while Carl Krause contributed two goals as the team finishes fourth among the eight teams in the competition.
