CORONADO TAKES SEVENTH PLACE WITH 10-9 VICTORY OVER NORTH BEACH IN BOYS' NATIONAL STATE CHALLENGE BRACKET

CORONADO, Calif. – Jake Eaton scored four goals for North Beach, but Joe Kusters and Michael Bigham both recorded hat-tricks as Coronado picked up a 10-9 victory in the seventh place game of the boys' 18-and-under bracket at the National State Challenge sponsored by American Water Polo at Coronado High School's Brian Bent Memorial Aquatics Complex.

The game was tight throughout as the teams entered halftime with Coronado holding a narrow 6-5 lead.

North Beach tied the game with 5:42 left in the third period as Eaton fired home a shot, and took the lead at 4:29 on another successful shot by Eaton.

The advantage was short-lived as Coronado connected on a shot at 3:05 and regained the lead at 1:45 with a tally by Kusters. Dylan Peterson padded the lead with 20 seconds remaining in the third to make it 9-7 after 18 minutes of play.

Tyler Brownwell zipped in the eventual game-winner with 4:57 remaining in the fourth period for a 10-7 lead. However, North Beach refused to roll over as Jack Wiley (3:04) hammered home a penalty shot and Eric Robb (00:24) tacked on a man-up goal to move within one before the final horn.
