GREATER SAN DIEGO TOPS NORTH BEACH 8-3 TO REACH NATIONAL STATE CHALLENGE FIFTH PLACE GAME

CORONADO, Calif. – Vanessa de los Reyes finished with a hat-trick as Greater San Diego defeated Illinois-North Beach 8-3 to earn a spot in the girls' 18-and-under fifth place game at the 2010 National State Challenge at Coronado High School's Brian Bent Memorial Aquatic Complex.

San Diego opened up a 5-0 lead midway through the second period and never looked back trading goals with North Beach over the final 15:45 of regulation to pick up the win.

Shelby Cunningham added a pair of goals with single tallies by Tia Christati, Jae-Alexandra Crabtree and Lacey Hamrick as Greater San Diego will meet Illinois-Windy City at noon on Sunday, July 25 in the fifth place game.

For North Beach, Cheyenne Montijo contributed two goals and Isabelle Baneux notched a marker as the squad will take on Coronado at 10:00 a.m. in the seventh place game on Sunday.
