NAVY-AC BROADSIDES GREATER PHILADELPHIA 11-1 CORONADO, Calif. – Mackenze Edwards netted five goals, while Lily Doerfler and Denise Hager zippped in pairs of markers, as Navy-AC ran out to an 11-0 lead on the way to an 11-1 victory over Greater Philadelphia in the girls' 18-and-under bracket at the 2010 National State Challenge hosted by American Water Polo at the Brian Bent Memorial Aquatics Complex at Coronado High School. The win clinches the Bracket A title for Navy and puts the team into a semifinal game at 7:00 p.m. versus Princeton this evening, while Greater Philadelphia will take on California-Carlsbad at 8:00 p.m. in another semifinal. Holding a 1-0 lead after a period of play, Navy iced the win in the second period with five unanswered goals to carry a 6-0 lead into intermission. The lead continued to expand as Navy put up a pair of goals in the third period and tacked on three more goals in the fourth period to hold an 11-0 lead with 2:57 left in the fourth period. Greater Philadelphia broke-up the shutout bid 43 seconds later when Kathryn Jacobson finished a man-up chance with 2:14 showing on the clock for the 11-1 final score.
