CARLSBAD CLINCHES BRACKET B TITLE WITH 14-2 VICTORY OVER CORONADO

CORONADO, Calif. – Bryn Lutz finished on three shots to lead eight different goal-scorers as Carlsbad knocked off Coronado 14-2 to clinch Bracket B in the girls' 18-and-under division at the 2010 National State Challenge.

Trailing 1-0 with 4:54 remaining in the first period, Carlsbad ripped off two goals in the first period, two more in the second, five in the third and five in the fourth period to overpower Coronado and clinch a berth in the 8:00 p.m. championship semifinal against Greater Philadelphia.

Coronado will face Windy City at 5:00 p.m. with a berth in the fifth place game on the line.
